Why Adoption Is Important

Celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are known for adopting children. They are often lauded as heroes for that, and rightfully so. Adoption is important. Children deserve to grow up in a healthy, loving home with a support system that is always there. Adopting a child can be a long and arduous process, but there are many reasons why it is so important to kids around the world.

Population Growth

The population of the Earth is approaching eight billion people, and some estimates say that the Earth is nearing its carrying capacity or the number of people the world is equipped to sustain. Because of this, some people feel that bringing another life into the world would be pointless when there are already so many children living in adoption centers, wanting a home. If you feel the same way, looking into an adoption facilitator could be a good move for you.

Disadvantaged Countries

Many prospective parents look to 2nd and 3rd world countries to find orphaned kids who are in an even worse situation than they would be in the developed world. China, Uganda, and Haiti are some of the most popular countries to adopt from. Depending on the country, there are certain requirements the prospective parents must fulfill, and those requirements can sometimes be discouraging. Many countries do not allow LGBTQ+ couples, people over a certain age, or people who have too many kids already to adopt. However, there is most likely somewhere that will consider granting anyone adoption rights.

Living without a loving family is incredibly damaging for young children. Childhood neglect has been proven to erode the brain, and while living in an orphanage does not always involve neglect, it often does. Adopting a child and loving him or her as one of your own can make that child’s life infinitely better.
